New linux user, and a bunch of questions

ok, v9.0 is down the drain now. I dumped it in a quest to see if that was the reason why winex was not working. I did get it to compile and install correctly, but it still gave me some errors (possibly because a lot of my drivers are for mandrake 8.2). So, I am going to stick with a supported version of mandrake for the time being.

check out www.ngemu.com and most of the good emulators work under linux also like daedulas(?? was that what it was calleD?)

I think you spelled it wrong (not sure), but yes. And Icarus is the dreamcast emu. I believe that the best emu's right now use the directx plug-in by jabo (or what ever his name was). Once they make a graphics plug-in that surpasses that one, then all emulators will be able to accell to higher levels. Jabo decided to keep it closed source after he stoped working on it for some reason though. I still like pj64, and to my knowledge, none have surpassed it at the current moment.

Ok, it turns out in order to get all of the good stuff from winex, you actually have to pay them for it. Has anyone had any luck compiling the source and getting it to run? If so, drop me a line. Otherwise, I may just dump linux completely, and use XP for everything. It does me no good it I can't play my favorite games on it.

I've compiled the CVS WineX and it worked fine with Half-Life for example.
No luck with GTA3 though, but some people have gotten that to run too (but I think the compiled WineX required you to use a cd crack to get rid of the copy protection in the game), but then again I tried to run it directly from my Win partition, so I guess I didn't try hard enough.

What errors do you get when trying to compile? Not that I'm some kinda linux expert but still...
