Dave Williams of Drowning Pool.... Dead

I thought I would let you all know. Dave Williams, the front man of Drowning Pool was found dead on their tour bus today in Mannassas, VA. Today is the day before they were gonna play at Ozzfest in my area. This is definately a major loss in the modern metal community.

And if one of you even thinks of saying anything fucked up about this using "Bodies" as your punch line, I will hunt you down and kill you. (or fill your e-mail box with a shit load of spam)

That's horrible.

I really like Drowning Pool. They are one of my favorite bands, along with Metallica and System of a Down. I wonder how he died?

I'm not sure how he died, since they have not released that information yet. I just hope that it wasn't drug related. If it was then all those people who aren't DP fans will be saying "Well it's his own damn fault"

Horrible he died.. leaves in question the future of Drowning Pool. It'll never be the same, his voice is one of the reasons I liked them so much.

I believe the same thing that happened to Snot and Nirvana when they lost their lead singer will happen to Drowning Pool. The rest of the band will go their seperate ways. Loosing a lead singer, espicially to death is near impossible to recover from since that voice was half of the song. Also the fact that the lead singer usually writes alot of the lyrics, It just usually can never be the same. I believe the only band that succeded when that happened was Red Hot Chilli Peppers, if I remember correctly.

I heard on the radio today (WAAF, the number one station in the Northeast) that he said he was really hot and went into his trailer to cool off. He then may have collapsed from heat exhaustion, started vomiting, and choked to death on it. Pretty gross and sad. I never really liked Drowning Pool (although they were VERY popular among the girls at my school), but it's still sad. I also hope it wasn't drugs or alcohol. The media may say it was suicide, because he was into metal, and of course metal is violent, and blah blah blah. It obviously isn't suicide, and I just hope it wasn't his fault. Crazy, dying when your 30. This death may cause a riot toward heavy metal and rock's use of violent lyrics, like "let the bodies hit the floor", may be considered violent, and will cause censorship. I don't think so, I'm just pretty much blabbering on and on. But one thing I do know, is that it won't get NEARLY as much media attention as the deaths of Aalyia and Left Eye from TLC. I didn't hear anything about it on the news, and if there's nothing about it at the VMAs, I'll be pissed. Why does the media/MTV act like rock isn't popular? Like it's only pop and rap? The only good band nominated for this year is System Of A Down, and that's for Best Editing. Anyway, I send my condolenses to Dave Williams of Drowning Pool.

Well if Metal's lyrics are considered violent and wish to be banned/censored then I suppose Rap might have to go through the same treatment. The only real genre's of music that wouldn't be targeted would be Pop and Country.

I have heard no news on Dave's death otherthan from a friend who went to Ozzfest the day after his death. He told me that Ozzy came on stage and spoke a little about Dave and kept refering to him as "Ole Drunken Dave" and hinted towards alcohol having something to do with his passing. Will post on here as soon as I hear/read any news.

Now that you guys brought up censorship... I'm not for censorship, people can do whatever they want to, but I'd just like to know why you'd want to listen to music that's so perpetually negative. It can't help but make you feel bad or saddistic. I've listen to my fair share of that kind of music. I've got plenty of it on my computer right now, so I'm not some poppie who just has an opinion... I guess it's the same thing as wondering why you'd smoke a second time when the first time makes you sick.

But again, I'm sorry to hear about Dave's death...
